The Buford Business Alliance is saddened to announce the passing of one of its beloved members, Cheryl Bowlin. Cheryl was friend, partner, wife to Richard McMahan. Together they were co-owners of one of Buford's great treasures, the Buford Variety Theater. Cheryl was a driving force behind the refurbishment of the beautiful early 20th century converted church and the creation of the theater itself.
Cheryl became ill a few short weeks ago and was diagnosed with an inoperative cancer. She passed early Saturday morning, November 14, just after midnight at home with Richard by her side.
Cheryl requests there be no funeral or flowers sent, instead a memorial service in December will take place at the Autrey Mill Nature Preserve & Heritage Center. The details and date are yet to be announced. Cheryl was a director and volunteer at the park. Her influence can be seen everywhere there. A fund in her name is being set at the park for donations. Per Cheryl's request it will be business as usual at the club. We intend to honor her memory by going forward with the club in the beautiful building she created.
Cheryl we will truly miss you. |
