BBA Arts Fund • BBA Sponsored Scholarships
The Buford Business Alliance has established an annual scholarship fund for both
Buford and North Gwinnett High Schools
’ students for achievement is the arts and marketing. As our organization grows,
we plan to increase the size and scope of our scholarship offerings.
Since Buford has been recognized in recent years as an “artists’ colony” and gained national prominence for attracting artists from all over the
country, we feel an obligation to further the development of this heritage. As
such, we have initially concentrated our fund to promoting excellence in the
arts. And since we are also a marketing organization, we would be remiss in not
also promoting excellence in the field of marketing.

BUFORD - The Buford Business Alliance has established a scholarship
fund for Buford High School and North Gwinnett High School students who excel in the arts and marketing. There were four scholarship winners this year and each received a check for
$100.
Buford Business Alliance President Tim Koenning said it may not seem like much,
but it's a start.
"We realize that our current scholarship dollar amounts are relatively small,
yet we have to start somewhere," Koenning said. "As our organization grows, so
will our capabilities of enhancing these scholarships. We look forward to the
day when we will be able to offer thousands of dollars to deserving students."
The funding for this year's scholarships came from vending revenues collected
during the Tour de Georgia's trip through downtown Buford.
Koenning said the Buford Business Alliance will be mailing out scholarship
donation forms later this year to raise money for the fund.
Money will also be set aside for scholarships in the Buford Business Alliance's
Historic Buford Arts Patron Fund. In addition to awarding scholarships to art
students, the fund will be used to attract artistic talent into Buford by
marketing special art events and funding a portion of the prize money for such
events.
