Just Say 'NO' to Online Shopping
this Holiday Season!

Buford, GA - November, 18 2008 - This holiday season local merchants around the country are requesting
you reconsider your shopping habits and just say 'NO' to on-line shopping. "With economic hardships
hitting our local communities very hard, we wanted to join and promote the grassroots 'SKIP on-line'
campaign to help save our local merchants and businesses that are the backbone of our local economies,"
states Scott Snedecor, the owner of Buford Georgia based S&S Ace Hardware. He continues, "Yes, it is
self serving! However, along with all our local businesses, we pay local wages, local taxes, local rents &
mortgages. Where are these on-line competitors located? Who do they hire and where? What communities
or countries do they support?"

With many people losing their jobs, companies are cutting back hours and of course, news of big chains
like Circuit City and Linens and Things and others going under, the thought of the potential additional
problems that would come from a poor holiday season frightens these local merchants and businesses.
These national chains also employ locally, and contribute to the county and schools revenue, etc. Snedecor
continues, "Often as a small business, we are accustomed to struggling and look to the big businesses as
our major competitors. In reflecting about trends in the news for the past several holiday seasons, the
brightest spot in sales has been for on-line retailers, not the local big stores. Now even the local big stores
are struggling. As such, our campaign also includes national chains that are part of our community."

In closing, local merchants and businesses highly encourage their communities to consider shopping local
and 'SKIP on-line shopping' this holiday season. They realize that a few local residents may have their
own or work for on-line retailers. This campaign does not wish to negatively impact them. However, times
are very difficult and the livelihood of these local merchants and businesses are on the line. It is a
campaign for survival!
